My 9yo needed a laptop for school so we sucked it up and bought him a MacBook Air (M1). I've installed a couple of apps (Epistory for typing, Rocksmith for jamming on the guitar) but am looking for the best educational apps that money or free can buy. Gamification is good, but not strictly necessary. Can any other HN parents provide suggestions? Would greatly appreciate it!

What are their interests? Guessing music is one of them, install GarageBand.
Also give Swift Playgrounds a try. It might lure them into programming.
And look up “Grapher.app” (probably will not interest a 9 year old, but who knows?)
