Have you bought domain via dan.com and was it safe?


Hi folks, we’re considering buying a domain via dan.com, our first time using it.

Aside from price-related matters, are there any risks we should be aware of?

If you have any stories / experience using dan.com, we’d love to hear them.

It’s a big purchase for us, so we’re just trying to minimise the risk of dealing with an overseas seller.

The fact that it’s listed on dan.com gives us peace of mind - because it appears legitimate - but perhaps that’s misplaced?

Dan.com is a reputable service and was recently acquired by GoDaddy, the biggest player in the domain industry by a very long margin. They will act as an escrow: take your money, get the domain into your hands, release the money to the seller. In this order.

I think your only worry would be to buy the domain from its legitimate owner. Dan.com has it's own security checks on both the buyer and the seller for what it's worth.
