Why companies do not hire prisoners to work remotely?

What do you think if govs teach prisoners programming so then they can be hired as a remote employee?

- Inmates typically have a high turnover of getting out or being moved. The training cost are probably not worth it if they get out of jai in 9 months. If they are in for years it probably means they have done something horrific.

-Lots of advocates have called work programs for inmates (such as firefighters or making license plates or whatever) modern slavery. I can't imagine this is press any company would want in exchange for customer service reps that would probably still be more expensive than outsourcing to India.

- Id also imagine for anything more complex it would be difficult as inmates are typically not given unfettered internet access.

This already happens. Not many companies are likely to give prisoners direct access to their computer networks though.
