Multi time zone remote work

Just curious to know how many people here are having to span multi time zones at their companies in a remote work environment? It seems like companies that were previously multi-timezone had some sort of overlap that expected employees in remote regions to coordinate with the mothership but now things have gone fully remote it's worse.

Can anyone confirm?

Most companies just don't have any idea how to manage remote teams at all. The transition is definitely is not easy for companies who did not have a remote culture in place already.

I guess some overlap is beneficial because sometimes meetings are just necessary, but in a remote work setting a lot of work should be as async as possible in my opinion.
