Is HN worth caring about?

As the recent years had shown, major social sites have a serious influence on the world. However, it is not just about size.

It is also about who are your users: The economist is not widely read, but it is read by the movers and shakers everywhere.

I like to picture HN as a kind of The Economist of "hackers" (influence-wise)

If we believe "hackers" are essential for the "good" of the "world", AND we care about the "World", then we should care about HN.

It's not worth basing any of your self worth on how many doots your comments get, but I definitely think there continues to be interesting articles and questions posted regularly with comprehensive discussions and arguments. To me that seems worth coming back everyday.

What else would you plausibly care about other than HN?

No.

It's not the same as it was 10 years ago. It used to be more tech, hacker, and startup focused.
