Why aren’t there more EV route planning apps?

In 2022 there’s still no decent mobile EV route planning functionality (phone based, not in-car) — not from Apple, Google, Tesla, etc. or any of the other big players.

Best I’ve seen so far is a app called PlugShare.

My use case: I’d like to plan a Thanksgiving road trip. I’d like to play with various permutations of charging stops to evaluate the various factors: time/“fun” (stuff to eat/do at each stop), etc, especially with the proliferation of new supercharger sites in the last few years.

I’d like to do this in the warmth of my home a few days in advance, not “on the fly” in the car.

Surely my scenario is not that unusual?

Can someone ELI5 why this has been totally neglected?

It's already built into Apple Maps. Or are you saying that this has not worked for you?

"A Better Trip Planner" by these guys is pretty good in my experience:

The Tesla navigation system has supercharger routing built in.

Won’t be surprise if Google maps has this within 5 years too.
