Is there a Spring happening in Brazil?

Brazilian here. People are calling it a brazilian spring at least. There's no revolution, just huge protests. There's a lot of people gathered in our capital, I've never seen anything like it. They've been there for almost two weeks now and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Traditional media is ignoring and minimizing the protests, the information is on social media and especially twitter.

There's all sorts of things being posted about the election. The most convincing analysis was posted weeks ago, showing that all older voting machine models, less thoroughly audited but still in use, held more votes for the winning candidate. The armed forces also released a report saying the voting machine software downloaded third party libraries from the internet during the compilation process and that code has not been audited. Today, the losing side requested that the results of those machines be disregarded, giving Bolsonaro the win.

The response to all this was not reasoned refutations but censorship. Supreme court judges gave themselves the power to investigate, judge and punish anyone who questions the results of the election. They are censoring everything related to this, claiming it is "fake news".

I submitted an article about the censorship here on HN as it was developing:

It's gotten worse.

Like the Arab spring? Nah.

It was just a close election and Lula won. It looks like it was a clean election. Sometimes the party you like win. Sometimes the party you like lose. Sometimes the candidate of the of your party is a moron. Sometimes the candidate of the of the other party is a moron. Sometimes both are morons. Just wait 4 years for the next election.

[Hi from Argentina! Once we have candidates for the precedential election next year, you are welcome to call them morons if you like.]
