It can be fatal to a career. I was an app dev who skipped the iPhone till the third generation dismissing it as a toy and going for the Nokia Communicator.

Compared to the communicator it was a toy. Turned out that toys are just very popular.
I'm surprised to hear that not developing for the first three generations of iphones matters so much 16 generations later!
