Why would anybody work at Twitter?

Just read https://www.theverge.com/2022/10/31/23434002/twitter-layoffs-internal-messaging-uncertainty-elon-musk and Musk sounds like an insane at best and evil to the point of sadistic at worst kind of boss.

Teams trying to accomplish impossible projects under the threat of being fired?

Printing out code for review?

Being fired right before stocks are getting vested - and told that this is going to be a priority?!?

This leadership is clearly throwing everyone under the bus and repeatedly running over the bodies.

This is beyond horrible. How are employees not simply walking out?!

Is it time to unionize Twitter?

I am honestly shocked by so many people - some of the smartest, top experts in the world - taking such abuse without resistance.

They work there because:

1. They like the new vision/leader

2. They're waiting to get laid off and take a severance package

3. They're looking for a new job now but haven't found one

Elon has built two very successful companies and he has done it his way. He's bringing his way to Twitter. I think it'll be good for Twitter long-term because Twitter was falling into the category of where you'd go to work if you want a cushy retirement job.

It hasn't been long. When things take a nosedive at a job, most people who were enjoying themselves tend not to move right away. All the same, they'll probably be fine, I'm sure twitter looks great on a resume.

This is what happens in takeovers - some people lose their jobs, options, benefits, seniority, you name it. Musk isn’t being “insane”. He’s being like every other new CEO that takes over a company. Been through many of these kinds of events. Yes, they often suck. But, the issue with Twitter is that everyone is afraid that Musk has ended the left’s echo chamber. That remains to be seen. The fact that it’s now been documented that Big Tech was colluding with the government should be a major concern of everyone.

1. 44 Billion Dollars in market cap is being partially reallocated internally with a bias against the existing players and possibly career defining turn around. 2. Tech is generally looking at a bad decade ahead career wise and being at a big private company run by Elon might be the best cavern for the nuclear winter.
