Make sure a desktop computer doesn't shutdown because of power outage

I have a Mac Mini M1 at my parent's place. I work remote all the time. Sometimes there's a power outage there and they don't know anything about computers, nor do I want to bother them switching it on.

What system do you use to keep your desktop to not immediately shut down during a power outage?

Get a UPS like the link below and connect the USB device cable ( not the charging port, the one on the back ).

MacOS will allow you to configure the point at which it shuts down after power loss. It's a built-in function, so you don't need additional software or drivers.

A UPS: https://www.apc.com/us/en/product-range/61883-backups/

Note that this will only carry it until the UPS batteries run flat, so a power outage of a duration longer than the runtime on the batteries will still shutdown the computer. Larger battery sizes (also more expensive) will run for longer duration's.

It’s pretty standard, you use a UPS.
