Then there was that time I quit my job because I was completely unrespected by my boss. Six months later they called me up and said they hadn't found a replacement for me and I told them they weren't going to find a replacement for me unless they got rid of him. Two days later I looked on LinkedIn and saw he'd been fired.
For me that was the beginning of a period of a few years where I got sporadic consulting jobs and did a huge amount of business development with salespeople that couldn't sell.
It turned out better than I could have hoped. I eat a proper breakfast every morning. I get 8.5 hours of sleep. I spend my time reading, listening to podcasts, and spending more time with family than ever before.
It’s helped me understand that hard work has maybe 30% to do with success. 70% is luck, and depending on which company you’re at, that 70% is mostly politics and some luck.
It sounds like I’m living a dream, but I’m still emotionally and physically recovering from my previous job. Im not a religious person, but I pray that company gets shutdown by the government, and it’s sociopath executives are thrown into jail.
