HACKER Q&A

What's your SaaS success/failure story?

Right now I see around me A LOT of single devs/microcompanies putting together something (url shorteners, cron schedulers, twitter apps, etc...) with a free tier and a monthly price if you want more.

Everything is becoming a SaaS and a culture of "indie hackers" is born around it since some years already...

It seems to me that I'm living in a bubble with people putting together a bunch of libraries/code snippets and making tons of money out of nowhere selling an "automatic twitter cats posting service" for 99$/month.

I know this is not true (at least, I hope it, for my sanity :P ), so I would like to know (and possibly learn something) from failures of HN users in the SaaS world, if any :)

Discussion open also to success stories, of course (but please add some details, not just "I'm making 10k MRR with my SaaS")!
