How to network with executives as an MBA student?

I'll soon be attending events with higher-ups of companies I'm interested in working for. While I certainly don't place people on pedestals, I don't want to make a fool of myself either.

How should an MBA student go about conversing with executive of major companies? What are the non-obvious questions and etiquette I should keep in mind?

My professors have given us preparation and tips, but I'm also curious what some of the HN folks have to say.

Shut up and listen?

It probably isn’t what you think it is.

It is almost certain that the faculty has picked some students to promote to the visitors. Because why wouldn’t they?

You are navigating on your own. Rely on your intuition. Including your intuition about your social intuitions.

Good luck.

Research, think, and come up with concrete proposals to solve specific problems for them, and pitch them.

Networking without being useful is useless. Be useful.
