State of malware in 2022? Share your stories

Hi HN,Have you had to deal with malware in recent times (last couple of years)? Family devices or at the workplace? Run-of-the-mill ransomware or more advanced attacks? Were they easy to deal with?I can't recall the last time I have seen an active infection. Probably back in 2003 or so. Share your stories!

I went hunting for shitty websites and the browser bugs they abuse, googling for "free paypal money" and similar unreasonable things, I wasn't careful enough, and the machine started crashing and lagging after a particularly nasty pop-under, i couldn't get this install back to working condition after that (and couldn't trust the install, so formatting time). (Chrome on Manjaro)
