Best Watch for Tracking Health That Doesn't Share Data
I'm interested in a watch that can help me track health (sleep, etc) which also doesn't report or share data with third parties. I'm a bit Apple-adverse, but open to it if that's the best option. I tried doing my homework on this but am finding a lot of conflicting information and a slew of marketing making it hard to tell fact from fiction. What are your experiences? What device(s) should I check out?
I’m already in the apple ecosystem, so I’m a little biased but I think the Apple Watch is pretty good considering cost, functionality, and battery life.
I use an app called health auto export to dump all of my data to an mqtt endpoint on my home assistant vm. This way I’m in control of my data and I can do whatever I want with it.
I've been using Gadgetbridge with various Mi Band models (currently Mi Band 6) for years. Works perfectly.
You could just not let it connect to the internet.
I have a Garmin watch and it displays most of the useful data on the device.
It's a french company so bound by GDPR, which means they should have decent privacy options.
