Realistically, what are the current outlooks of aging research?

Restriction diet in mice is well established. Metformin is in short supply worldwide because of (ab)use for life extension and weighloss (which is a neighbour field). Most other views on the benefits of restriction diet on longevity and neutraceuticals are mixed: for everyone who says "works for me" there is another saying "short term gain, longterm risk" or similar statements.

The scientific fraud behind Amyloid theory has thrown a lot of people, because the fundamentals of why people think removing brain plaque is valuable are now back for review.

The outlook is good! There are no settled questions, and people continue to want to live longer. So.. its a rich field to mine, with deep pockets associated with it.

(don't work in the field. Unsure I think living longer is net beneficial)
