Books: lots available through the public library system in the US. One of the libraries to which I have a membership gives me access to Safari Books online so I've already had the change to read through the new 4th edition MySql Cookbook that was published this month.

Video training: TONS of options and not limited to the US.

Hackathons: find a group who is using a tool/skill you want to learn and offer to help them with anything (getting pizza and drinks, documentation, etc) as long as they teach you about how to use the tool/skill along the way.

Mentorship: lots of folks like to share what they know; a Zoom screen-sharing session can go a long way to learning and understanding new skills.

Physical books (usually bought through my employer or borrowed from a library), a pen or pencil (fine point), and a notebook.
