What news soruces are worth paying for?

I understand that the modern internet expects news to be free. However I also understand that it changes the priorities of the sites that have to do it.Which services/sites/orgs do you pay for news from? Donations or subscriptions. Even if they have a free version.

The opinion section is a waste of space for the most part but I think in general the reporting from the wall street journal is still pretty good. I've been waiting since murdoch bought it for it to start sucking but haven't noticed it in the investigative/financial journalism part yet
