Why most founders are bad at taking care of their people?

In my career, I've come across a lot of founders who are bad at taking care of their people. I'm not talking about the occasional bad boss, but good people. I know a lot of founders who are genuinely good people, but when it comes to making a team, I see a systematic pattern of behavior that seems to be all too common.

Lack of encouragement, nitpicking, falsify one's feeling, damaging team spirit without knowing it, just to name a few. What are your opinions why good people turned into bad bosses? & how we should fix it?

I think the key point here is that everyone starts as a bad boss. In startups, and often times in midsize companies there is no training. One day you’re just a people manager with no guidance on how to do it and the expectation that you don’t stop doing the IC work you were doing before.

Compare this to larger companies where they have training (both new manager and ongoing), calibration and support networks in place for their managers.
