Use two fingers to move the map”


Maybe it's just me, but I find "use two fingers to move the map" troubling.

1) it means they know what you wanted to do

2) it means they want you to do it their way more than invest in helping you do what you want to do

3) you also "use two fingers" (pinch or spread) to adjust zoom

Is this.. an anti pattern?

I give up every time, those shitty embedded maps never work right. Half the time the page will scroll or zoom or something, and performance on my phone is often awful.

I don't think this is intended to force you to do things their way. I think they wanted to let you move the map with only one finger, but when they tried to implement that, they ran into some sort of problem, so they had to do this instead.

personally I find it convenient that that I can control 3 parameters (x axis, y axis, and zoom %) with two fingers (left finger position, right finger position, distance between them)
