Cool (New) GTLDs?


With the proliferation of new generic top level domains (gTLDs) what ones are your favorites that you like to register? For me .xyz seems a bit spammy, but other ones like .blog and .page and .link seem cool. And I discover new ones all the time!

What are your favorites?

None of them. The old ones, .com, .org, .de (I'm from Germany) and maybe .info are good enough. Many people out there are irritated if you tell them a Webadressen with one one the new TLD. Some of them don't recognise it as a Webadress. Thats all people who are not so much techies as you and I. Worst case: On some web-sites you can't enter mailadress with a TLD longer than 4 chars. 8-) The new TLD are just exist to make more money. There is no need. They created a new market to sell more. more than 98% of the traffic for my websites comes with this classic TLDs. The new TLDs are just expensive & useless.

Go with .com or bust.

- The big well known gTLDs are price-regulated, and hence are affordable. New gTLDs are not, and are often three to five times the annual cost.

- .xyz is a great example: Most people do not view sites on new gTLDs are reputable or legitimate, and many organizations will block them as a default.

If you're doing some niche personal crud, go nuts. .social is great for Mastodon instances, and you probably don't really care if organizations don't find them reputable. If you're running a business, go with a .com though.
