Starting a tech company in Ohio (or anywhere non-SV) – pros and cons?

I'm a software engineer working in the bay area and the ever increasing high expenses in exchange for a degrading quality of life/safety are starting to bum me out.I've never started a business before, and I'm wondering if I should try something new but in a place like Ohio where I'm from.Has anyone left the bay area to go start a company somewhere not as tech heavy? What was your experience?

I didn&rsquo;t leave SF, but am based in Midwest. Cost of living is definitely a great help. It&rsquo;s possible to live on one income (if married). Or, if living off savings, you can stretch it further.On the flip side, fundraising is harder. You can fly out to SF for fundraising season.
