Is there a scam behind these [ruby|orange]institute.com survey emails?

I've recently been getting spam about being invited to do paid market research (~$100 for a 15 minute survey) from two similarly generic domains:

I've been blocking them as spam, but wondering if there's some deeper scam/phishing behind them I should warn colleagues about, or whether they're actually genuine (though I'm very doubtful of this given how generic the sites are, and how little google finds on them).
