How will things work out this school year without an effective vaccine?

If there is no vaccine for the now dominant BA.5 covid variant, what is going to happen this coming school year?

It seems like a pretty bad plan to stick the kids and teacher all in a room together. Why would teachers even sign up for this?

Low pay, low appreciation, near-guaranteed eventual covid infection.

The school districts in Oakland, CA have a massive number of vacant teaching positions they're becoming increasingly desperate to fill.

Arizona relaxed the requirements to allow anyone to teach as long as they're currently enrolled in college to become a teacher.

It seems crazy.

It is crazy. Plagues go on if not fought. Bubonic plague: "While the first lasted just over two centuries and the third a mere twenty-five years in pandemic form, this second wave returned periodically for nearly five hundred years in western Europe." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2630035/ We know how to stop covid, but the regressives won't do what is needed. Honestly, if this was a biowarfare attack, we'd all be likely dead.

As long as teachers are not elderly, obese, or otherwise unhealthy, covid is not an issue any longer. Folks that are at risk already know who they are and have retired, or gone semi-permanently remote, etc.
