Should Show HN posts be links or text?


It used to be that Show HNs were posted as a URL. Now it seems like some folks post with text instead, with the URL and some context in the text description.

Has there been a change in policy, or is there an official position on this? Is there a difference in how these different types of posts perform?

Ask HN lists questions and other text submissions. Show HN is for sharing your personal work and has special rules.
