The thing about the CD medium is that generally the cheapest player sounds identical to the most expensive. It’s more about what outputs and such you need. Newer ones (2000+) may have better buffering and tolerance to scratches/etc.
I doubt you need to spend $120. Go on FB Marketplace and you can probably get one for free. Otherwise.. nobody ever got fired for buying Sony.
