My preferred answer would be the latest of the LTS series as you will have fairly recent improvements in network and storage performance with the least new and exciting bugs. Any time one is pushing Linux/Hardware to the limits they may be one of a small group of people to discover a new behavior. LTS kernels will have a bigger community of people and higher odds that others are doing the same thing and would have already experienced and submitted related bugs.
In summary, short of benchmarks that match your specific cases the answer depends on your risk tolerance.
Hands down.
