Which chipmaker will win the race to 1nm?

Apple? TSMC? Intel? A new foundry backed by some big company or country? Double your bet and tell us which year.

A better question would be based on transistor density, the nm nomenclature no longer has a real tie to the physical chip tech. So whichever company's marketing decides to call their process "1nm" first. That won't be Intel, they've already abandoned nm naming convention (after their 10nm process was renamed to 7nm) Apple doesn't manufacture chips, they send their designs to TSMC just like Nvidia and AMD (and many others). Assuming this naming scheme isn't abandoned by everyone before 1nm, it will probably be IBM in some tiny lab sample, and then Samsung in a higher volume process.
