Which are some good mixed-use neighborhoods in the US?

Find older cities, if a city, say Chicago, was developed before cars it'll have better public transit/mixed use areas.

Cars are horrible horrible things for cities. All of a sudden you get a 20 minute driving commute to buy some apples.

Vs Chicago or NYC where I can walk to a corner store.
