How to Get Better at Communication?
I co-founded and currently run the technology/product department of a sizable company [Not from an English-speaking country]. Although I am very good at explaining technical things in detail. I think I struggle when it comes to general verbal communication, starting from small talk to having detailed conversations. How do I get better at this? Any courses/books/real-life examples/chores that helped?
Courses, books, workshops, etc. aside - one extremely traditional way is to have a trusted and socially skilled assistant, spouse, or similar person - who acts as your coach and trainer in such things. At least in private, the person needs to feel free to give you unflattering feedback. And if you need help with presentations, both you and the person need enough time for you to practice your presentations with only that person as your test audience.
