How to Stop Being Rigid?

I’ve become rigid over the years in my thinking and my creative spark just isn’t what it used to be. Maybe it’s age, maybe other factors. I want to get back my mojo and be more ‘neuroplastic’ as it were.

How do I achieve this?

What hacks can I use to be more creative & inspired and break out of rigid approaches to getting creative work done?

I've had a bit of success with this very recently, just by re-evaluating (downwards) the costs of doing things badly. So instead of doing something in a way that I've convinced myself is the optimum way, I'm more likely to try a different way. I tell myself that the potential benefit outweighs the cost. It's working so far!

Start simple. Use your non-dominant hand to do tasks you normally wouldn't.

Sounds silly but its a good start. Get your brain back in the habit of noticing a old way of doing things and actively choosing to do it differently. You can then go on to apply this further.

For a more radical approach. Quit your job, move 180 degrees into a polar opposite industry. E.g. work tech atm? Go drive trucks on a farm for 4 months during harvest or something. Spend all your day currently in a dungeon looking at screens? Take a part time job that's front of house customer facing. If you think a task sounds uncomfortable or unappealing....leap at doing it. Think all this sounds too hard or unpleasant? That's just you being locked in your ways! Good luck! Ps start doing yoga. If your minds gonna be rigid might as well make your body flexy.
