What 1BR apartment hacks do you have for an expecting family?

My wife and I are expecting our first child. We live in a 1BR in Manhattan and I am curious what “hacks” you’ve come up with when dealing with a child and a space constrained space.

If you are not already using under bed storage, get IKEA clear storage boxes that are made to fit.

You can get a wall mount baby changing table. It folds away when not it use and has pockets for all essentials.

Consider a “Moses Basket” for the early months small potable looks cool.

Get a foldable baby buggy that also mounts the car seat. If you are up for it get a baby wrap (great ones made in Germany) and skip the baby buggy.

Baby stuff is small, just try to not overdo it - baby stuff it cute but it only is used for a short time.

If you get a plastic baby bath, hang it on the wall when not being used. If no room for that store things in it in bottom of closet when not in use.

We have used an uncluttered closet as a baby nap room. It can help if you WFH with sleeping baby.

If you have a balcony, that can be a great baby nap area as well, as long you you pay attention to weather and sun exposure.

As your baby approaches crawling stage do some “blanket training” place blanket on the floor and keep all toys on the blanket. Makes it super simple to do a quick tidy up if you have unexpected guests.
