some posts with higher points(240) that were posted 4 hours ago are below posts that have lower points(143) that were posted 1 hour ago.

Napkin math here:

240 / 4 = 60 upvotes per hour

143 / 1 = 143 upvotes per hour

Therefore, it makes sense that newer content with higher upvote velocity would trump a staling link.
