What is it like for Canadians to work in the US on a TN visa?

I learned about the TN Visa recently, which allows Canadian software engineers to work in the US on a temporary basis with a non-immigrant visa.

Has anyone here applied for this visa since the pandemic began? The documentation suggests that you can arrive at a port of entry and have the visa approved there. Is that still the case?

Do you need to go through a immigration lawyer for the paperwork, or can you provide all the necessary documentation/offer of employment letter yourself?

Is it possible to receive health insurance from the company you will be working for if you are only there for 6-12 months?

Thanks!

Take a look there, perhaps there is something useful. For example https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu...

I would think that health insurance would be a benefit of employment in the us as with natives, so negotiate for it. Otherwise, $$ out of pocket. I thought it was like the reverse coming north - show up at the border with a job offer and your cv and the border processes. But I only know people coming north.
