Why is keybase.io still up?
What purpose does it serve these days?
Just one example of the continuing use of Keybase: the Chia Network uses Keybase Chat as its sole official communication tool for its community. More than 20,000 members and hundreds of messages per day. Why Keybase and not Telegram? Because identities can not be faked on Keybase. Private messaging on Telegram (and on Discord) is full of scams because of faked identities.
Another example of possible use: the Keybase File System, for private or public sharing of files.
Literally the same purpose it always did? Unless I missed something, Keybase hasn't actually been shut down.
I still use the client, I think if they do shut it down they’ll provide a generous timeline etc.
It's being maintained by Zoom, they use it internally as well.
I'm missing some backstory here, should it be shut down?
None, it is a relic of a time long past
