Are there any tech billionaires who just dropped out?
It seems like most people who got a billion (or even just high multi-million) dollar windfall from an acquisition (like Eduardo Saverin, Peter Thiel, etc.) are becoming "angel investors" and stay active in tech or related endeavours.
But are there any similarly rich guys who just said "f*k it all" after cashing out and are now living off their cash (which should last them and a couple of future generations of offspring)?
You would burn through that windfall quickly if you didn't invest it properly. Many lottery winners are now broke because they weren't financially savvy. You have to stay in the game. Wealth for me is money not spent. The car you didn't buy, the fancy house you didn't splurge money on. And margaritas on the beach gets old quickly, so you need to chase new experiences all the time if you have the money.
The guys that founded WhatsApp don't seem to be doing much from what I can tell.
