Shutdown sports events globally to save the planet?


There are many ideas suggested a greener globe.

What about shutting down all sports evens across the globe?

There are a lot of them, ususally weekly, usually more, in most cities at least of some size.

There are huge climate costs.

Most studiums use a lot of electricty Most have lights,food prep, cold drinks, usually in disposable contrainers.

Some places that are huge have ACs

Then there is the enormous activity of getting people there and back again.

What impact do you think that might have on gobal emissions?

imagine if everyone stay at home, cook or order online (transport), watch TV individually etc, i'm pretty sure they'd consume way more electricity

Maybe we should all live in pods and just interact in virtual reality all day. Robots can feed us and stuff. I think I saw a movie about that.

In all seriousness, your idea is disgusting. Espousing this kind of hard line authoritarian stuff is in the same category as extreme racism or other vile speech.

Where will this stop? How about banning Music concerts? Then we can stop leisure travel?

We will head into a slippery slope if we go down this path.

You need to think about the environmental cost but also the benefits for the society. Sport events are worth conducting IMHO.
