If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose to live?

Near family and friends. I'm deeply grateful for the privilege to have traveled all over the world in my teens and twenties (like what used to only be available to the very rich, and in my case was available because a fancy college wanted this poor white rural kid with rare hobbies), and I want that world-expansion for more young people (so that we don't travel so much in older age, and thus have a smaller carbon footprint). I moved around a lot as a child, and have lived in several cities since college, and now that I'm a parent I want to give my child more stability than I got, so they are better-able to grow up and explore out of the nest (I feel like I'm relatively stuck as a teenager, though now that I see it I'm working to grow up). Home is where the heart is, and as I steadily progress towards death, my heart is with other people.

Tax-supported, public libraries are helpful for continuing the world-expansion, enhanced by the context of having experienced how similar we humans are to each other around the world.

Singapore!

I spent a week there 7 years ago and I loved it.

The city was cool and modern, yet clean and civilized.

I was born in Mexico city, currently living in salt lake city Utah. I think living in Asia for a while would help me grow and expand my perception of the world.

Somewhere with a reasonably high quality of life, but a low enough cost of living that I could retire now. Maybe Costa Rica.

I'm happy in the Rockies but if this didn't work out my next move would be Svalbard [1] in the arctic ocean.

Ever since I read Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confessions 25 years ago I've had this notion that Chambery would be a great place to live, though I've never been to France.

Has anyone reading this been there?

Laurel Canyon 40 years ago. Second best: a farm in Redmond, WA, so that’s where I am.
