Custom domain email for professionals?
I have a non-tech friend who wants a custom domain email address, but I think it will be a bit complex to setup with all the configuration needed to avoid falling in spam these days (DNS settings, DMARC, etc.).
Is there any affordable email service which allows you to buy & use a custom domain with all the email authentication managed easily?
Depending on your friends situation, they should consider getting office365. It's like $15 a month I think, let's you add a custom address (I think including a simple option to buy a domain inside the office365 environment), and it has all of MS office as well. If your friend really just needs email there are cheaper options, but if they are paying for an office suite, it's not a bad deal imo
(I use it with my domain from Namecheap and it walks you though exactly how to set it up with a domain you already own. It should be possible even for someone nontechnical)
Tucows, and nothing wrong with paying for Gmail either - a .com domain is maybe $15 per year (and other TLDs range from $1 to thousands)
Fastmail was fairly easy to set up, along with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
It was just a matter of pasting strings into DNS records.
The first mail client setup is not obvious though
I'm happily using migadu. 80$ /year for infinite own domains and accounts. Email setup was very easy as they give you all the records to enter or you can even make migadu manage your records.
Last year, I switched from GSuite to Protonmail for my business. SPF/DKIM/DMARC were relatively simple to set up (just a few DNS records they provide).
I think fastmail has a spin off service which does this however I can't remember the product's name.
