The mask mandate was just struck down in federal court, yet no stories?

For the last two years it seems like everyday there were pro-mask, pro-lockdown, covid stories on the HN front page. Yet, in a landmark case, a Florida federal court just struck it down and masks are no longer required at airports and on planes. How can a story this important to our freedoms potentially be silenced and censored?

EDIT: Toned down some of the phrasing as it's not productive.

In addition to what others have said:

> How can a story this important to our freedoms be silenced

This isn't yet a story important to our freedoms. It's just one more in a two-years-long (so far) series of back-and-forth rulings on the legality of mask mandates. It will (probably) be appealed. When it works its way through appeals and there's a Supreme Court decision, then this will be a story that is important to our freedoms, one way or the other. Until then, it's kind of "meh", at least in my view.

Everyone is done and tired of talking about it.

Personally never cared much either way about masks, and thought schools being closed here for almost two years was a much bigger issue.

7 posts in 9 hours, what more do you want? https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu...

It takes a combination of someone posting a story, and enough others upvoting it, for it to end up on the front page. Perhaps these two things simply haven't happened yet?

This is the first I heard about it, and when I Google it, I get news articles ranging in age from 2 hours to 3 minutes ago. This is new news. Give it 48 hours, and try posting a good source article to HN.

Edit, the sibling comment mentions nine postings on HN already for it. Maybe the few votes it is getting are being split up between the 9, preventing any one from gaining critical mass. Maybe you could message dang - sometimes multiple posts can be merged when referencing the same event, but I don't know what the guidelines around that are.

"Covid's over, haven't you heard?" Hence no need for a mask or other activities. Let's hope it really IS over, although a 5-day, worst-flu-ever experience is less "over" than I would prefer.

Maybe people are just tired of talking about masks and what-not? Dunno. Try turning on showdead and see if there are a bunch of "flagged" and "dead" stories on the subject littering the "new" section? I doubt there is any conspiracy. I think people are just tired of talking about it.

I wouldn't be surprised, for example, if this thread itself is flagged to death. Hell, I'll probably flag it myself now that I've thought about it a bit.
