EDIT: Toned down some of the phrasing as it's not productive.
> How can a story this important to our freedoms be silenced
This isn't yet a story important to our freedoms. It's just one more in a two-years-long (so far) series of back-and-forth rulings on the legality of mask mandates. It will (probably) be appealed. When it works its way through appeals and there's a Supreme Court decision, then this will be a story that is important to our freedoms, one way or the other. Until then, it's kind of "meh", at least in my view.
Personally never cared much either way about masks, and thought schools being closed here for almost two years was a much bigger issue.
This is the first I heard about it, and when I Google it, I get news articles ranging in age from 2 hours to 3 minutes ago. This is new news. Give it 48 hours, and try posting a good source article to HN.
Edit, the sibling comment mentions nine postings on HN already for it. Maybe the few votes it is getting are being split up between the 9, preventing any one from gaining critical mass. Maybe you could message dang - sometimes multiple posts can be merged when referencing the same event, but I don't know what the guidelines around that are.
I wouldn't be surprised, for example, if this thread itself is flagged to death. Hell, I'll probably flag it myself now that I've thought about it a bit.
