How to Pick a Specialisation?


I’m broadly interested in many areas of CS, but not in anything specific.

I’d like to do meaningful work.

I would like to hear from people who have specialised as to how they chose their field.

Does it matter all that much?

Commercial CS is about stealing somebody's attention to make advertisements being watched and all kinds of dark patterns. Personally I have never seen a programmer (except of some pure scientists) which would not be an asshole just doing everything he's being told, for money, no matter how harmful.
