How to Cultivate Child's Interest in Science?

I've been thinking about the best ways to develop my new-born(9m+) What are some best practices you wish you had started with your child when they were young? Brain development skills, character development, daily routines, toys, kids story books etc. Any resources you use books, video etc. Thank you.

Expose them to a bunch of different things. When they show interest or aptitude, encourage them and support them. Trying too hard and forcing it on them can backfire - it can ruin your relationship with them, it can put them off pursuing something altogether, it can even slow their development (e.g. at certain ages playing is much more important for mental development than science). Just let your kid be a kid instead of treating them like your own video game character that you need to max out.

Some signs that you might be trying too hard is that you're asking for a daily science routine for a 9-month old baby.

Don’t assume it’s “too early” for something. I think I could’ve started my kid on a computer much earlier if I’d stopped worrying about it. Kids are shockingly adept at picking up concepts and tools. (Although 9m is probably a bit too early)

Also, don’t worry about it too much. Your kid is going to be whoever they are. My sister (a trained mechanical engineer) did everything she could to get my niece involved in STEM. She decided to pursue a career in dance.
