ACM/IEEE membership. Worth it?
For the ones who are members, is it worth it? I always had in mind that the ACM and IEEE were for "professionals, for real engineers/computer scientists who are pushing the industry forward". I'm just a developer who sometimes care about good code, but more often than not pushes bugs to production.
I've been a student member a long time ago and cancelled my membership in the 90s when work differed very much from research, which was ACM's main point in ny opinion.
Nowadays access to O'Reilly's bookshelves for members might prompt me to reconsider. Cf. https://learning.acm.org/e-learning/oreilly
