Why is it legal for a company to only give employees desktop computers?

Companies should be required by law to give you a notebook computer or both a desktop computer and a notebook computer.

Sitting in one place all the time to do your work on a desktop computer isn't good for your health.

I'm not sure that I understand the complaint here. Can't standing desks also work with desktop computers? And even if you're forced to sit down to work, can't you take a reasonable amount of breaks to walk around and stretch your legs?

Lol what kind of country do you live or want to live in where the government prescribes what kind of computers a company can or can't give its employees?

I currently have both a laptop and a desktop from my company. Other than a handful of occasional keystrokes, I sit while using the laptop also.

A standing desk might be a better option, but that would work with either desktop or laptop.

Getting walking breaks in throughout the day would probably be good (and I do, whether if using a desktop or laptop computer).

Companies should be compelled by law to give employees laptops?

That seems a bit of a stretch.

Some companies don't even give you a computer or place to sit!

How do you get this impression? Are you sure it's just not company policy?

A lot of places give their employees laptops.

Buy yourself a tablet or Chromebook and remote-desktop into your company machine.
