Will the metaverse encourage kids to talk to their grandparents more?

It seems like it would be more fun for them than using a phone or Skype. And so maybe they would want to talk to their grandparents more?

Software will not add some needness to have a conversation.

And BTW nothing can add more fun to raw dialogue (via phone which I use to carry anywhere) or to raw dialogue with video (via skype, if both of parties have an access to video terminals).

I do not expect from "metaverse" nothing except of more surveillance and ads and all kinds of strange rules like hardware requirements or unfreedom of speech on some topics. What might be some extra sources of fun during a conversation with your family? Oculus Rift?

Uh, no. Didn’t happen with phones or video calling. Being older tends to make one more free and more lonely.

Not directly but it will lower the barriers of talking to their grandparents.

FaceTime means that my kids have way more frequent “face to face” conversations with their grandparents who live across the country than I did as a kid.

Do kids talk to their grandparents more as a result of Roblox? What ever the answer is for that platform I believe the answer will be the same for whatever the meta verse is.

Probably "No".

No, because no one will use it.
