Why size of pdf output is so large in Chrome (versus Safari)?
When I "save to pdf" the HN frontpage in Chrome, the pdf is 318 KB.
The same webpage saves as a 125 KB pdf in Safari. Why is the Chrome output almost THREE times larger? Can Chrome be configured to minimize the size of its pdf output?
Safari most certainly uses macOS system functions for this and the macOS graphics system is partially based on... PDF graphics. Since that is probably optimized in any and all possible ways, I'm not surprised by this.
Guessing Safari is just more optimized for PDF.
