The fact that it's (mostly) real, and not the fiction of a soap opera or movie adds to the intrigue. Those things are great, but seeing a real slice of life somewhere else in the world, or someone else's view of my own local area, has a different value than fiction. Being more grounded in reality it gives me insight into what is possible as well as questioning my own values often.
I find people who don't like vlogs tend to be closed-minded and conservative. They lack empathy and waste their time on selfish endeavours.
Of course, a vlog is no replacement for actually getting out into the world and experiencing it and the people in it. But after a long day, or whilst commuting, or during a spare moment, it's a very good use of time.
