Why haven’t push notifications replaced newsletters?

I think because push notifications are annoying as hell, they only take the senders wishes into account and they make my systems light up like a christmas tree. I have begun to say NO with a 100% rate to them.

E-mail on the other hand, lands in a system, that I manage. I can make rules that throws them (for example) a look-at-later-when-bored folder. Either way, they are only as annoying as I myself have set them up to be...

I say yes when I think the newsletter has the potential to be interesting, maybe 2 or 3 new newsletters every month..

Because nobody wants push notifications for the kind of thing that would be in a newsletter.
