Is a Mac still the best for video editing?

I'm tired of dealing with issues with video editing programs on Windows. May latest issues are problems running on Windows 11. I've always heard Macs are way better for this so I'm thinking of buying one. But what about Linux? And maybe I'm doing something wrong on Windows.

So in other words, what's the best home video editing platform I can buy?

My current machine is an x64, Intel i7-9700 3.0 GHz, 8 core, 16 GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, Running Windows 11 Home

When people say that the often mean Final Cut Pro or one of the other mac OS specific pieces of software. FCP is popular for a reason. But if you don't want to run that, there's no particularly compelling advantage over Windows these days. I do find Macs have fewer rough edges with a video workflow, I think due to most software heavily relying on the OS APIs so things are more uniform. But you'll spend 90% of your time in your video editor which probably has an identical UI under both OSes.

If you expect to be doing anything serious, don't upgrade to the latest Windows right away. Wait.
