How did school morning begin at your school?

I just saw my kids school all troop into "assembly " (surprisingly quietly) and wondered what differences different countries / cultures have in between the actual lessons

We would have daily / regular assembly of the whole school (usually youngest at front) where the headmaster would give some admin and some moral lesson. Sometimes there were more interesting things happening. But I suspect the British tendency to queue might come from there.

Just wondering :-)

In S. Asia, I'd get to school by 7:45AM and we'd go to daily assembly for prayers, general announcements, etc. 'til sixth grade.

After moving to Canada:

In junior high school, we'd get to school at 9AM and class would start by 9:15AM after the national anthem and daily announcements.

High school: Got to school by 7:50AM, music played on the PA system until 8AM, after which the Pirates of the Caribbean theme would start to play to urge us to get to class faster. Then the national anthem, daily announcements, and classes would start by 8:20AM.

At around 6:30am all students and teachers gather in an open field facing the flag pole. Started when an opening prayer, then flag ceremony, and followed by 5 minute morning exercise. After that are some announcements from school head. And then everyone go back to their respective rooms.

Prayers in multiple languages. News headlines read by a student from the house that was chosen for the week. Notable historical events on that day. National anthem
